What is Lip Augmentation ?
Lip Augmentation is a minimal access procedure by which the size of upper lip and lower lip or either of them can be enhanced to bring it in proportion with the other lip or with the rest of the face.

During your consultation, after careful examination, Dr Suhas will ascertain if you are a right candidate for Lip augmentation and discuss the best option for you.
He will also take you through the whole procedure in pictures and show you some of the before and after so that you get a good idea about what you can expect from the procedure.
It is imperative at this time for you to reveal your complete medical history including any medications you maybe taking or other treatments you might be undergoing so that your safety is ensured.
Feeling apprehensive before the surgery takes place is entirely normal. You will be made comfortable and you will be free to ask all your queries and doubts, however seemingly small or big it maybe to you.
Preparation
Once you have chosen to go ahead with the procedure, Dr Suhas will advise you a few blood tests etc to ensure that you are indeed in good health otherwise, in case of fat graft. Fillers are usually done on out patient basis.
If you do have medical conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid Problems, Asthma or anything else, Dr Suhas will ensure it is well treated and controlled before the procedure.
On the day of procedure

Eligibility
- Any woman or man above 18 years of age with general good health.
- Should have quit smoking couple of weeks before procedure.
Techniques of Lip Augmentation in Dubai
There are 2 ways in which lip can be augmented –
1. Filler Injections – Fillers like hyaluronic acid (which is a normal component of the body) can be injected into the lip to enhance the volume and shape. The effect of the filler lasts anywhere between 6-10 months.
2. Fat Graft – A small amount of fat obtained from another site by lipo-aspiration, can be processed and purified and injected into the lip. The effect of the fat is more long lasting than filler.
Recovery
- Since it is usually done under local anesthesia, you can go home after the procedure is done.
- Immediately after the surgery, there will be small stickers on the abdomen or thigh (where fat has been taken from), and you will also see mild swelling and bruising over the next few days, which are absolutely normal and will disappear soon.
- 1-2 days post surgery, there maybe swelling of the lips , which will all disappear completely over the next few days.
- You will also be prescribed some antibiotics to prevent infection.
- Most patients can resume desk work after 3-4 days with minimum discomfort.
- You will need to visit Dr Suhas a couple of times to ensure your recovery is on the right path.
- Usually patients require a week or so to get back to normal work. Walking indoors is recommended, but for harder exercise schedules like aerobics, a few more days are needed. Carrying heavy loads is not advisable during the first 10 – 14 days.
- It is advisable to take a 1-2 days off from work – just to ensure you are presentable before resuming work.
- Gradually as the swelling subsides in and around your lips, your final result will start showing up after a couple of weeks.
