What is Blepharoplasty ?
Blepharoplasty is an eye plastic surgical procedure that removes excess skin or fat from the eyelids to improve the look of hooded eyes, droopy eyelids, eye bags or combinations of the above. It can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids, or on both.

Preparation
Once you have chosen to go ahead with the procedure, Dr Suhas will advise you a few blood tests etc to ensure that you are indeed in good health otherwise.
If you do have medical conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid Problems, Asthma or anything else, Dr Suhas will ensure it is well treated and controlled before the procedure.
On the day of procedure
Dr Suhas will see you before the procedure for marking the areas of the liposuction.

Eligibility
- Generally people aged above 40 years or anyone else showing ageing signs around eyes opt for this procedure.
- Both men and women can undergo.
- Should be in otherwise good general health.
- Medical conditions if any, like Diabetes, Hypertension etc to be well controlled.
- Quit smoking few weeks before surgery.
Technique of Blepharoplasty in Dubai
The procedure usually is performed with local anesthesia.
Small cuts are made in and around the upper and lower eyelids – to minimize visibility, incisions are always made around natural skin creases and folds. Then the excess fat is separated and the extra skin as well are trimmed away, remaining fat is reshaped and wound is closed.
After the procedure, stickers are applied and sutures, when they are used, are usually removed within by 5-7 days.
Recovery
- Since it is usually done under local anesthesia, you can go home after the procedure is done.
- Immediately after the surgery, there will be small stickers on the eyelids, and you will also see mild swelling and bruising over the next few days, which are absolutely normal and will disappear soon.
- 1-2 days post surgery, there maybe swelling or black eye , which will all disappear completely over the next few days.
- You will also be prescribed some antibiotics to prevent infection.
- Most patients can resume desk work after 3-4 days with minimum discomfort.
- You will need to visit Dr Suhas a couple of times to ensure your recovery is on the right path.
- Usually patients require a week or so to get back to normal work. Walking indoors is recommended, but for harder exercise schedules like aerobics, a few more days are needed. Carrying heavy loads is not advisable during the first 10 – 14 days.
- It is advisable to take a 3-4 days off from work – especially if your job involves working on computer or moving around outdoors.
- Gradually as the swelling subsides in and around your face, your final result will start showing up after a couple of months.
