What is Breast Reduction ?
Breast reduction, also known as Reduction Mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reduce the size of the breast, reshape, and lift the breast to achieve a better appearance. This is done by removing the excess fat, breast tissues, and skin from the large breasts and then relocating the areola and nipple to ensure a better and more proportionate size and shape.

During your consultation, after careful examination, Dr Suhas will ascertain if you are a right candidate for Breast Reduction and take measurements so that the most technique can be selected for you.
He will also take you through the whole procedure in pictures and show you some of the before and after so that you get a good idea about what you can expect from the procedure.
It is imperative at this time for you to reveal your complete medical history including any medications you maybe taking or other treatments you might be undergoing so that your safety is ensured.
Feeling apprehensive before the surgery takes place is entirely normal. You will be made comfortable and you will be free to ask all your queries and doubts, however seemingly small or big it maybe to you.
Preparation
Once you have chosen to go ahead with the procedure, Dr Suhas will advise you a few blood tests etc to ensure that you are indeed in good health otherwise.
If you do have medical conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid Problems, Asthma or anything else, Dr Suhas will ensure it is well treated and controlled before the procedure.
On the day of procedure
Dr Suhas will see you before the procedure for marking the areas of the liposuction.

Procedure Details
Eligibility
- Above 18 years age.
- Preferably, those who have finished having children.
- Even those who have not had children can undergo, if they are facing the above mentioned symptoms of pain, heaviness.
- Should not be pregnant at the time of planned procedure.
- Any lady with large breasts, who desire a reduction, in otherwise good health.
Techniques of Breast Reduction in Dubai
Broadly speaking there are 3 techniques of breast reduction based on the incision and the final scar –
The steps of the surgery are common to all – first, the surgeon will lift the nipple into a new position, then cut away the extra skin and breast tissue, and finally reshape the left-over skin and tissue into smaller, higher, perkier breasts and replace the nipple.
The techniques to achieve this are –
1. Vertical Reduction (Lollipop) – which is usually done for mild to moderate reduction.
2. Inverted T Reduction – For large to very large reductions
3. Periareolar Reduction – usually done only for mild reductions.
Each technique has its own pros and cons. Dr Suhas will carefully examine and decide the best technique for you.
In the correctly chosen patient and when done meticulously, all the 3 techniques work well.
Recovery
- You will be able to walk shortly after your surgery, once the anaesthesia has worn off.
- Immediately after the surgery, your breasts will be bandaged, and you will also be given a special bra that will help reduce the swelling, while also offering support to the breasts.
- 1-2 days post surgery, there maybe mild discomfort, which will easily be controlled with a pain medication
- You will also be prescribed some antibiotics to prevent infection.
- Most patients can resume desk work after 3-4 days with minimum discomfort
- You will need to visit Dr Suhas a couple of times to ensure your recovery is on the right path.
- Usually women require a week or so to get back to normal work. Walking indoors is recommended, but for harder exercise schedules like aerobics, a few more days are needed. Carrying heavy loads is not advisable during the first 10 – 14 days.
- It is advisable to take a week off from work – which usually suffices for most women.
- Gradually as the swelling subsides and the breast settles on the chest, your final result will start showing up after a couple of months.
